Emmanuel Music

Emmanuel has a long tradition of outstanding music, starting with the designers of our organ, Henry Colles and Walford Davies in 1908.

Today, we host several concerts a year, and now boast our own church choir which sing anthems every Sunday, joined once a month by the children's choir at family service. In addition, Mark Denza (our organist) arranges professional choirs for our sumptuous feast day services. The church choir varies in number and parts on a weekly basis - we are short of men! We sing a wide repertoire ranging from Mediaeval plainsong through to modern day jazz and gospel, and everything in between.

Each week, the music is sent out electronically (pdf and midi) to choir members so they can practice in their own time. Then we all get together at 9am on Sunday to rehearse the 2 or 3 anthems for the service that day.

Children's choir rehearses for an hour once a month. The practice is on Thursday evening at 7pm, prior to the Family service on the first Sunday of the month. After the rehearsal, the music is emailed to the parents so that the children may practice at home before Sunday, when they are asked to join the main choir rehearsal at 9.30.
